Professional Association in the Philippines
Philippine Association of Management Accountants (PAMA) was established on May 8, 1972 by a group of pioneering men led by Mr. Luis C. Diaz. Its primary objective: to promote management accounting in the Philippines. It was initially named as National Association of Accountants (NAA), Philippine International Chapter, Inc., a chapter and later on an affiliate of NAA (USA), now known as the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) based in New Jersey U.S.A. The name was further changed to the Philippine Association of Management Accountants (“PAMA”) on August 22, 1978.

PAS is a non-profit and non-stock organization of secretaries and administrative professionals in business corporations and other institutions. It was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on March 17, 1958. The Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD), an agency of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), played a vital role in the creation of the Medical and Health Library Association of the Philippines (MAHLAP). The idea of organizing an association of medical and health librarians was conceived during the seminar-workshop on "Current Management Trends for Health Care Libraries," that was held in Cebu City from 3 to 7 November 1986

The Association of Special Libraries of the Philippines (ASLP) was established in 1954 as a result of the implementation plan spearheaded by the Interdepartmental Reference Service (IDRS). It took the place of the Philippine Council for US Aid (PHILCUSA) which initiates the rehabilitation progress of disorganized libraries.
